Hello! We’re Micron Products.

Founded in 1978, we are a full-service contract manufacturing and injection molding company based in Massachusetts. The shop we acquired at that time was founded in 1925, making us one of the oldest companies in the injection molding industry. Over the years, we’ve partnered with thousands of companies throughout the U.S. and around the world to provide high-volume plastic parts in a number of markets, including medical devices/health, defense, industrial, and consumer.

So if you’re wondering, “Which plastic injection molding companies near me (or in the U.S.) can I trust to help take our product from design to market?”, you’ve come to the right place. We’d like to introduce ourselves—and a few areas of our expertise that our customers value the most.

What sets Micron apart from other plastic injection molding companies in Boston—and around the world?

1. Quality Control

As one of the premiere plastic manufacturers in Massachusetts, we pride ourselves on quality. A quality plastic part begins with quality controls during the manufacturing process. And further, we know that quality becomes more important with volume. Fixing an issue in a job with five parts is a lot less complex than addressing an issue for five million parts. We go the extra mile to ensure our clients receive quality parts, including:

  • Providing a class seven clean room or a mobile enclosure for our plastic injection molding machine to ensure cleanliness and positive airflow for clients who require their part be created in a controlled environment.
  • Maintaining strict compliance with the ISO 13485 standard to maintain part quality.
  • Maintaining ITAR certification, because we value our clients in the defense industry and take the security of restricted information seriously.

2. Product Improvement

While all plastic injection molding companies in Boston, and throughout the U.S., manufacture products based on customer specifications, we take it a step further. We examine customer specifications and ensure that they’ve designed the part optimally for the manufacturing process, so you can avoid potential quality issues down the road.

3. Material Selection

Do you know whether the material you’re considering for your part is adequate (or, on the other hand, if it’s overkill)? The wrong choice could mean your part won’t hold up once it goes to market, or you’re wasting money making the part more durable than necessary. We want our customers to succeed in the marketplace, so we always review customer specifications and suggest alternate materials if needed.

4. Custom Tooling & Mold Repeatability

Here at Micron, we are proud to have a high-caliber in-house tooling shop. The class 101 or 102 molds we build are, in most cases, guaranteed to produce at least one million cycles without any additional cost to the customer. So if you’re using a 64-cavity tool, you could create 64 million parts before needing to retool. If driving down cost is critical, we can outsource tool building to a trusted mold maker overseas, but keeping the build in-house gives us total control over the quality of your mold.

5. Automation

If you require a very high volume of parts, we work with outside partners to create automated assemblies and components to guarantee part consistency and quality. For example, we often use automation to extract parts from the mold to keep a consistent cycle time, a vision system that checks for part quality, and a robot to assemble molded pieces. This is an option many injection molding companies don’t offer, but if the volume of parts warrants it, we will make sure you have the right automation in place.

Now you know us, but we still don’t know you. Let’s fix that.
